To promote Guizhou’s comprehensive competitiveness, the development of high technology as well as the policy of reforming and opening to the outside world is given top priority. This year, Guzihou’s government has taken great efforts to promote and program further scientific development, thus technical and scientific innovations has surged over the whole province. These granule-liked things seemed as common as other plastic granule, but they actually turn out to be a kind of high-technology-featured products

    This kind of composites polymer material is developed and produced in Guizhou’s National Composites Polymer Technology Center. It has wide use, for example, it can change other plastics’ performance as long as it is mixed into common plastic. After several procedures, products like car’s panel and bumper, television case and hardware can be produced out of it. So, this kind of material has full potentials to meet various needs of production.

    National Composites Polymer Technology Center is so far Guizhou’s first National Engineering and Technology Center as well as the only place serving for developing and producing anomalous composites polymer. In order to change the situation that currently China has been lack of higher-end plastic products and to assist wining more plastic products market, this center is aiming at improving and promoting the plastic products as to high quality, technology and profit.

    However, back to years ago, to build a national technology center in Guizhou needed to be through a lot of difficulties. Because applying for establishing a technology center and its related patent in scientific filed is as complicated and difficult as applying for hosting Olympic Games.

    Before we applied for this project, there had been more than other 100 projects around the nation being under the way of competing. National Science and Technology Department turned down our application at the first place because a national Technology center requires strong financial support and fine infrastructure, which were lack of and undeveloped in Guizhou that time.

    Nevertheless, Guizhou’s scientific workers did not give up; they worked day and night and tried to apply for it time and time again instead. Great thoughts had been put, an analysis concerning the Guizhou’s industrial development , natural resource and manufacturing by all means had worked out. According this analysis, Guizhou government decided to develop raw material and promote new material industry, and then carried out certain policies. At last, hard work was recognized by National Science and Technology Department, for four-year efforts, Guizhou finally made it to apply for building first national technology center in the province.

    To Scientific filed of Guizhou, the establishment of this center is exhilarating. It not only offers the right direction for further scientific development and research on resource and creates a favorable environment for integrating current resource and scientific innovations.

    This year, in retrospect, is most fruited year for Guizhou’s scientific development. In addition to the establishment of the first national composites polymer technology center, some national major hi-tech projects have made many great breakthroughs.

    For the very first time, Guizhou has developed as many as 973 scientific researching projects within this year. Guizhou’s scientific departments, universities and hundreds of scientific workers teamed up working on the research of Karst Stone Desertation in Southwest of Guizhou so as to give strong scientific support on improving ecological environment of desertation zones, promoting regional economy and sustainable development.

    Thanks to 12-year close cooperation between Guizhou and National Astronomical Observatory, this year Guizhou also successfully initiated the project of building FAST (Five-hundred-meter aperture spherical radio telescope), It is expected that after five and half year, the biggest FAST of the world will be put into use in Guizhou.

    In agriculture filed, Guizhou’s R10 rape-seed has benefited local farmers quite a lot, this year, R10 has helped local farmers increase total income to upwards of 400 million yuan, pleasingly boosted overall economy in rural areas. Moreover, the experiment on cultivated rice achieved 940 kilograms, reached beyond the expected standard of 800 kilograms.

    Speaking of scientific education, Guizhou also did a great job by establishing the first Science and Technology Museum which was open to the public in this August. It is estimated that it has received 140 thousands of visitors in four months since its opening. Thanks to its multi-functions, various scientific activities have been held; education concerning science and technology is clearly progressing quite well.

    In order to further promote Guizhou’s scientific development, great efforts have been put, over 28 years, all kinds of conferences have been held, and carried out certain plans and policies to better program the future of Guzihou’s science and technology so as to boost the whole province.
