    It is just very hard to describe what we are seeing now, especially in the season of winter. Brushy plants and water is framing a painting in front of us. In the early winter, sceneries of water wonder can be easily spotted in Maolan National Nature Reserve.

    According to scientific workers, the major reason that waterfalls, deep pools , streams and rivers are still bringing beautiful views as they did in summer is because of the unique karst water systems of earth’s surface and underground, both of these systems support each other while the season is changing. Wonderful natural sights including Karst pool, Great karst spring, multi-tides spring and standing spring will be formed as long as the two system work to assist each other. During the high water period, large amount of water from rainfall sink into the underground so as to form an underground river, people standing on the earth surface can not see the underground river running through but to hear the sound. When it comes to low water period, the underground water will spring out and form streams and rivers whose currents and rapids are sparkling, later on waterfalls formed. Thanks to the water systems, water resource and Maolan dense forests and brushy plants, there are still waterfall sceneries in water people to enjoy.
